I am just incredibly touched by the whole idea of a mother-daughter book club. Several of my friends here are in similar clubs. This sort of thing was unheard of back in my youth……..

You are certainly reading some great books. I completely agree with you that reading with kids is a great way to encourage their reading. Plus you get to read the books yourself, which is always fun. Thanks for visiting my site! I quite enjoyed your list.

Thanks for commenting, WG & Jen! The club has been great fun. There’s about 16 of us altogether, if everyone comes. One mom and daughter pair moved a couple hours away, but they still try to drive up when they can for our Saturday afternoon meetings. At some point the moms started getting together some evenings just on our own — and this is the part of the story where the cosmopolitans come in!!

One of my favorite mother-daughter book club books I enjoyed with my oldest daughter was The Forest Wife. It is the story of Maid Marian, Robin and how they found their work in the world. I hope to read it with our Girl Scout troop next year.
Peace from home to the universe,
B.

How very nice to see you here again, Betsy! I’ll have to look for The Forest Wife. There are way too many good “children’s” books. It would almost be possible to skip the grown-up ones altogether. But I guess I’d miss them, too.

Ruby Holler was by far my favorite, but I like Hatchet and The Tale of Despereaux too. Which is pronounced “Desperox”, I don’t care what anyone says.
