You know, you’re absolutely right. America will cope and adjust. I commuted on bicycle 30 miles yesterday and had a blast. Granted, I am INCREDIBLY sore today, but I saw more bike commuters that day than I have ever seen in my life. Portland, Oregon is a bicyclist’s dream. There are bike paths, bike bridges and even now “bike boxes” that allow you to sit at an intersection in your own little green 10′x10′ bicycle safe haven. I didn’t burn even an ounce of foreign oil. I burned several Annie’s donuts, though.

@ Yep: Hurray for both you and Portland! Many other cities (even my own!) are beginning to follow suit. The donut-burning side-effects only add to the coolness.
