How to (almost) get fabulously rich as a writer

We both got paid for writing projects last week!
My husband’s book royalty check: $88.04 (for 12 years of work)
My first BlogHer check: $32.23 (for 3 months of work)
Hmm. Well, looks like Mr. Almostgotit is *mighty lucky* to have me to support him, what with my writing making so much more per hour than his does.
Champagne, anyone?

Writers must never, never calculate what they make per hour. We must make a solemn pact. Promise me.
Meanwhile, congratulations!

Yay royalties! I keep getting royalty statements that say “you did not earn enough this quarter to receive a check” …

There are some circumstances in which I calculate what I earn not by the hour, but BY THE MINUTE. I kid you not. Congratulations to you. I am sipping a fine boutique bourbon in your honor.

I ask you: in what other line of employment would we allow someone to tell us “you did not earn enough this quarter to receive a check?”
Deal, Working Girl. At least until we are evicted, that is.
By the minute ALTOS, really? That would be, in my case, about .001 cents. Okay, now I’m REALLY depressed…
