Nice baskets. Even nicer rug. I’m still using an ancient Army duffel bag. And does that Laundromat have video games? I thought that was pretty savvy on the part of one Laundromat I used to use. That $20 bill changer came in handy then.

You can tell you don’t live in Seattle. Where are your blacks? That’s half the laundry here!

When I lived in France I carried my laundry to the laundromat in a big cloth bag slung over my shoulder (it weighed a ton) and worried that I would still be carrying that d— bag even when I was 80. (I was 40-ish at the time and wondering why I was still living like an impoverished college student.)

But now I possess a clothes washing machine, here in my very own dwelling, which still amazes me to no end. I hope you, too, soon make this step “up.” Meanwhile, keep in mind that when you take laundry to the laundromat it all gets done at ONCE (no load after load).

Come to think of it, I guess there are plenty of people who would be thrilled to live as well as an impoverished college student. Still, I feel your pain.

Oh, and here’s my household “hint”: Start working on making your family feel guilty about wearing an item just once and then throwing it in the wash. It’ll help, really.

Sometimes the laundromat is just SO awesome…I love bringing home all that folded laundry and putting it straight away…of course it’s only every 5 years when the washer goes out, but it’s such an awesome feeling.

PS (since everyone else is giving two comments) : I love how Jerry is illustrating how pre-washed laundry is much more interesting to a dog than is post-washed laundry.

Wow, a soft pretzel with mustard? I’d be finished that and licking my fingers before the first spin cycle.
My favourite laundromat was one with a “broken” dryer. You put the clothes in and closed the door, and it spun them dry for free. Nobody thought to notify the proprietor.

I know, it brought me back too. Especially the smell that wafts out of the hot, gas-powered dryers… THAT’S a laundromat.

No pretzels or beer anywhere near by, unfortunately. And the nostalgia part grows old pretty quickly. Oh, for the day my replacement washing machine will come.
