October Creep Show: Letterman and Polanski
October 02, 2009 By: almostgotit Category: Uncategorized

First, we have David Letterman, who has been in a long-term relationship (since 1986) with the woman who is now his wife and mother of his young son. Apparently Mr. Letterman has also been doing some “creepy things” with a few of his female employees (read: star-struck subordinates) which he then confessed in an even creepier monologue.
All better now, right?
Meanwhile Roman Polanski, according to Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, and a host of others including the governments of several countries, is far too talented to be extradited, let alone punished, for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.
The only person who seems to disagree with Woody & co. is Kirstie Alley.
Is anyone out there but me bothered by any of this?

I’ve never quite understood why France chose to give him safe harbor all those many years ago.
Another in the entertainment world to voice outrage against Polanski is Sherri Sheppard of the The View.
There are those who say that the victim has forgiven him, why shouldn’t the government. Interesting concept. Is that how the laws work now? I missed the memo.

Methinks Woody and Marty have done their share of creepy things with children…

“Swiss ex-minister: Polanski should’ve been warned.” About what? That he had committed a crime and people wanted to arrest him for it? And, hello NEWS FLASH: Polanski has a tiny little tendency to skip bail and leave the country when people try to catch him. Who owes him a “warning” or any other damn thing?
Weird about Letterman, too. The monologue is so slimy. “Would you like to hear a little story?” he says to the audience, and they fall right into his hands. Yuk.

Yes; a bunch of pervs.
Dave, Roman, Michael, countless politicians so wrapped up in their narcissism boundaries are smeared away or broken through to suit their own selfishness. Reminds of my Grandma’s judgment on graffitti, “Fools names are often found in public places.” Chowderheads one and all.

I was disgusted when the story broke. So much so, in fact, that whilst trolling through free movies on Comcast during an insomniac episode a couple of nights ago, I passed over one directed by Mr. P. He needs to go to jail.
A similar thing happened in the ballet world a few years back when NYCB director Peter Martins was arrested for beating up on his wife, principal ballerina Darci Kistler. The charges were mysteriously dropped later….
This case, though, is more egregious since it involved a child.

We live right across the river from Portland, Oregon where the Mayor of Portland just avoided a recall campaign to force him out of office for lying during his campaign last year. The allegations involved an affair with a teenager…

We’ve become a remarkably tolerant public, I think.
